Purple Emperors and Woodland Butterflies

See below for available dates

Venue: Scrag Copse

The purple emperor is an incredibly elusive butterfly as it spends most of its time high in the woodland canopy and it never feeds on nectar. However, I will lay out bait using 'noxious' substances to try to bring down this prize butterfly to camera level.

The 2009 workshop had sightings of up to five purple emperors and silver-washed fritillaries galore. This workshop is entirely in the field and some waiting around for our prize may be inevitable.   Instruction on exposure and insect stalking technique will be given.

I suggest a lens up to 300mm and/or a macro lens as well as a tripod for this workshop.
