If you wish to spend a magical weekend in woodland at the most beautiful time of the year, this is the weekend for you.
The bluebells are at their peak at this time of year as well as golden saxifrage, violet, primrose, bugle, yellow archangel and many more. However, as well as capturing images of the flora, there are many other options on this two day camping weekend.
We hope to shoot great spotted woodpeckers and nuthatches from the main hide as well as small hides set up on the approach to nest sites around the woodland to possibly shoot robins, marsh, blue and great tits . Other subjects will hopefully include grass snakes and slow worms, butterflies and dragonflies.
In the evening before cooking dinner on an open fire there is a badger watch (no photography is allowed during this watch due to the number of people). This will be followed by a nocturnal walk to experience the woodland at night.
As well as your camera gear, you will need to bring your own small tent (a limited number of tents are for hire) for this weekend as well as your food, drink and bedding. Cooking is over an open fire. A dry toilet is available.
As well as providing endless photographic opportunities, this weekend proves to be a wonderful woodland experience which cannot be gained from short visits. You will go home enriched.
I suggest a short focal length zoom such as 18-55mm as well as a lens up to 300mm and/or a macro lens for this workshop. A longer lens may be useful for the birds.
