Woodpeckers and Nuthatches See below for available dates Venue: Scrag Copse Having run many woodland bird's workshops, I get a lot of requests to photograph the great spotted woodpeckers and nuthatches; after all they are very dynamic and photogenic, although a little tricky to photograph! Therefore, on this workshop, we ignore the other woodland species to purely concentrate on great spotted woodpecker and nuthatches, setting up natural perches for them to pose on for you. I can normally lure these birds to within 3 or 4 metres of photographers although this does require more hide discipline than the other less fickle species but this does result in much greater chances of success. There are less general shooting opportunities and a little more waiting but the results can be spectacular. The workshop starts with a discussion on bird behaviour and how we manipulate that to suit our needs. Fundamentals such as exposure and camera settings are also covered. This course is limited to a maximum of four people. A minimum focal length lens of 300mm is required as well as a tripod.
